The most significant features of SMOT are that the curriculum at SMOT focuses on Career Verticals rather than just stoping with functional areas, with the result there are currently 23 career vertical specializations on offer, about 1200 man years of teaching experience at the disposal of the SMOT students and several companies, both Indian and multinational, expressing interest in Campus Placement Program. SMOT also believes that not all prospective students can complete the program in the same duration. For example, experienced students are given 12 months while fresh graduates and students with meagre experience are given 4 months more. There are also students who can not quit the job for various reasons but have career ambitions and need for doing a rigorous business course. Such students have flexible timings to attend classes, typically during week ends and late evenings. For obvious reasons, these students take even more time, 6 months more than 12 months students, to complete the program. Irrespective of whatever the course the students choose, 12-month or 16-month or 18-month, all of them will have the same rigour, work culture, delivery mechanism, teaching, quality of faculty, number of credit courses, opportunities and focus.
