Babu is an Associate Professor of Finance in the College of Business and Economics at Towson University, Maryland, U. S. A

Babu completed his Ph.D in Finance from Texas A&M University in 1991. He also has a Masters degree in Business from Iowa State University (1986) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Loyola Institute of Business Administration, Chennai (1982). Prior to moving to the U. S. in 1983, Babu worked at State Bank of India after graduating from the University of Madras, India with an undergraduate degree in Physics.

Babu teaches in the areas of Banking and Finance. Babu has published his research in academic Banking journals including the Journal of Banking & Finance and Journal of Financial Services Research. Babu's work on hostile bank takeovers and interstate bank mergers have been widely cited in finance research papers.

Babu has taught a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate courses including Commercial Bank Management, Financial Institutions & Markets, International Finance Corporate Finance and Financial Statement Analysis. While at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire he contributed the Finance curriculum by developing several courses including Commercial Bank Management, Financial Statement Analysis, and International Financial Management. Babu was also part of a faculty group that developed a brand new modular MBA program.
