Step 1

Register for the SMOT Entrance Test.

The test is scheduled to be conducted on July 12, 19, 26 and August 2, 9, 16, 23 at Chennai

You can register to appear for the entrance test

a) online at www.smot.edu OR

b) by sending a DD for Rs. 900/ in favour of SMOT OR

c) by walking in to SMOT Campus in person.

While registering for the entrance test, you will be given complete application kit. You need to keep the application form filled in with all the enclosures while coming for the test. Please note that you are exempted from the test if you have valid CAT / GMAT score and you can directly appear for the interview.

Once you register for the test, we will send a Hall Ticket with the venue and time. You need to bring the printed copy of the Hall Ticket.

Step 2

Attend SMOT Entrance Test. Do not forget to bring the Hall Ticket. You will not be allowed to take the examination if you have not brought the Hall Ticket and the filled in application form. You will know the result of the test, whether you have been short listed or otherwise, immediately after the examination. You should not leave the premises of the examination centre until your result is let known to you. You should be prepared to appear for the interview in the afternoon of the same day or the next day.

Step 3

Submit filled up application. You can also submit the completed form at the centre on the day of the entrance examination, if short listed prior to attending the interview.

Please note NOT to attach any other documents - such as degree, diploma or any other certificates, in the original- to the application. Only photocopies of the original certificates need to be attached. Applicants are informed that the admission decision process is likely to be delayed until all required credentials are received.

Applicants are advised to retain a copy of the filled-in application and the essays they have enclosed for their reference. The applicants may inquire about the status of their application by sending a mail to: admissions@smot.edu.in or by calling 044 - 435 935 40.

Step 4

Attend Interview. Please note that you have to appear for the interview on the same day. You will be allowed to appear for the interview only if you have submitted your application form with all the required documents.

Criteria for Short listing to appear for the interview: Performance in the SMOT Entrance Test is the most important criterion. You should have been short listed. Apart from this, your application should be complete in all respects and should have been submitted. Applicants are welcome to contact our Admissions Office for any clarification prior to submission of the application. They may give preference, if any, for scheduling their personal interview.

Step 5

Criteria for Selection The selection process is managed and administered by the SMOT Admissions Committee, the members of which come from academia and industry from across the country with proven record of service.

An important component in selection depends on your performance in personal interview. Personal interview normally focuses on clarity of purpose, language, articulation, comfort level, intellectual honesty and competitiveness. The interview panel might ask questions to elicit answers to test any of the above attributes. Clarity of purpose in pursuing management program in SMOT as evidenced by the Statement of Purpose and essays may form the basis for calling you for Personal Interview and consistency in academic performance in all examinations starting from secondary school board to the qualifying degree will be important criteria for short listing. Final selection for admission will be based on the overall assessment of your application. The committee highly values full-time work experience in reputed and well-established firms. It also gives due recognition to entrepreneurial experience.

Please note that you should bring all certificates, grade/mark sheets and testimonials in the original at the time of interview.

Step 6

Admission. Applications will be taken up for processing for admissions when all materials, including copies of certificates, test scores and interview performance reports are received. Notification of admission to the program will be made on completion of interview and the selected candidates will be informed immediately or through an offer letter handed over in person / couriered to their address. The deadline for completion of admission formalities by the candidates will be mentioned in the offer letter
